About Rusty
Findley
Born in
Sylacauga, Alabama, Rusty Findley moved to
Aiken, South Carolina in 1965 when he was 12
years old. This moved was part of his father’s
career with Kimberly-Clark who spent 39 years
with the company. Rusty has spent his entire
life since then living in Aiken. A graduate of
Aiken High School, Rusty attended the University
of South Carolina graduating in 1975 with a
Business Degree. Shortly after graduating USC
he joined his mother, the late Etta Findley, in
her Aiken real estate company, Findley-Blackburn
Realtors.
Rusty
soon saw the need for a quality home builder in
the Aiken area so he started Findley
Construction Company in 1976. The company has
been going strong since due to the quality
control and hands-on supervision made directly
by Rusty himself.
Like
most all of us, Rusty decided to start a family
of his own and married in 1980. He and his wife
Donna have 2 children, Kyle and Kelly. Kyle is
a graduate from the Engineering School at USC
and currently employed with the CBI. Kelly is
also a graduate of USC and is currently at the
Children's Place in Aiken.
Over
the years with support of family, friends, and a
great work force, Rusty has continued to build
top quality homes in the Aiken area. He is a
business owner that is always conscious about
his activities and quality of work. Building
mostly custom homes, along with some remodeling
work, Rusty limits his quantity of work to about
8 new houses per year. When asked why he
doesn’t expand and build as many as possible
each year like many homebuilders, Rusty simply
replies, “I don’t want to lose control of the
quality in the homes I build.”
Active
in the community, Rusty is a past member of the
Aiken County School Advisory Board and the
University of SC at Aiken Economic Development
Board. Dedicated to his profession Rusty has
served as Secretary, President-elect, and
President of the Aiken County Home Builders
Association and currently is one of its
Directors.
